Upload Your Dental Treatment Plan: The 15 Things We Check Before Comparing Prices

The total is the least interesting part of a complex treatment plan. A useful review starts with tooth numbers, diagnosis, procedure scope, materials, conditional items and what happens after treatment.

Prepared 13 September 2026DentalQuote queueEstimated prices ≠ real quotes
Prices, savings, and quote ranges on DentalQuote are estimates only. They are for planning and comparison, not a diagnosis or a case-specific treatment quote. Your real price can change with examination, imaging, tooth prognosis, grafting, materials, provider, sedation and treatment sequence. WhatsApp Andy for a real case-specific quote and send the treatment plan, estimate, X-rays/CBCT or photos you already have.
The short answer

Send the written plan with clinical detail intact and unnecessary personal identifiers removed. We check whether the two quotes actually describe the same treatment before comparing money.

1–5: identify what is being treated

First, identify the tooth numbers or arch. Second, identify the diagnosis or reason for treatment. Third, mark which teeth are being saved. Fourth, mark which teeth are being extracted. Fifth, identify any site where the recommendation depends on further imaging or specialist evaluation.

These five checks prevent the most serious comparison error: treating different diagnoses as though they were competing prices for the same product.

6–10: identify what you actually receive

Sixth, list surgery. Seventh, list grafting. Eighth, identify the implant system or restorative material when it matters. Ninth, identify the temporary or provisional treatment. Tenth, identify the final crown, bridge, denture or full-arch prosthesis.

If the plan stops before the final restoration, the total is not necessarily wrong. It is simply incomplete as a finished-treatment comparison.

11–15: identify money outside the procedure list

Eleventh, look for sedation and imaging. Twelfth, identify insurance or benefit assumptions. Thirteenth, identify financing or card fees. Fourteenth, identify travel and second-trip requirements when care is abroad. Fifteenth, read the failure, remake, cancellation and refund terms.

That produces a much more useful “real cost” than the first number at the bottom of the estimate.

What to remove before sending

For an informal quote comparison, you usually do not need to send a Social Security number, insurance member ID, full birth date, home address or other unrelated identifiers. Preserve the clinical data: tooth numbers, procedure descriptions, dates of imaging, materials and notes.

When more formal clinical review is needed, use the secure method agreed with the provider. DentalQuote's public-facing tools are intended for organization, not storage of sensitive records.

Run the quote through the same ten-column test

The fastest way to make two dental prices comparable is to force both into the same frame. Do not worry if one clinic bundles several items. Mark the deliverable as included and keep moving. The point is to reveal differences, not to make every clinic use identical billing language.

Anything marked Conditional belongs in your contingency planning. Anything marked Not stated belongs in your next message to the clinic. If a line is truly not applicable, write “N/A” rather than leaving it ambiguous.

What the internet can estimate and what it cannot

Published pricing can tell you whether a quote is broadly in the expected order of magnitude. It can also show which components commonly create the gap between a headline price and a finished treatment. What it cannot do is determine whether your specific tooth is restorable, whether you need grafting, whether immediate loading is appropriate, or which treatment is medically best for you.

That line matters because DentalQuote is intentionally a math and comparison product. The site should help you arrive at a dental consultation better informed, not pretend the consultation is unnecessary.

The real-quote handoff

When you have a written treatment plan, stop working only from generic numbers. Keep the clinical details intact: tooth numbers, diagnoses, proposed procedures, implant or restorative materials, conditional notes and dates of imaging. Remove unnecessary identifiers if you prefer. Then send the material for a case-specific conversation.

The WhatsApp button on this page is conditioned with DentalQuote.co and this exact article title. Andy will know what you were researching before he opens the rest of your message, which means the conversation can start with the actual uncertainty instead of “how can I help you?”

Good estimate behavior

  • It says what is included.
  • It labels unknowns as conditional.
  • It separates temporary from final treatment.
  • It identifies important materials or implant systems.
  • It explains what can change after examination or imaging.

Red flags

  • Plan has no tooth/site identifiers
  • Final restoration is absent
  • Clinical records cropped to only the price
  • Sensitive identifiers sent unnecessarily
  • Quote comparison ignores different diagnoses

How this connects to the rest of the network

DentalQuote.co is the math layer: benchmarks, calculators, quote normalization and second-opinion organization. When the treatment path is specifically Colombia, use ColombiaDentist.co for broader procedure, city, material, safety and treatment research. The narrow price question should feed upward into a better clinical decision rather than spinning into another generic price article.

FAQ

What should I send Andy?

The written treatment plan or estimate and the non-identifying clinical records needed to understand it, such as X-rays or CBCT when relevant.

Can I black out my name?

For informal price comparison, removing unnecessary identifiers is reasonable as long as clinical information remains readable.

Will Andy's WhatsApp know where I came from?

Yes. The DentalQuote buttons are conditioned with the source site and exact article/page title.

Have the written quote already?

Send Andy the actual estimate or treatment plan instead of trying to reverse-engineer your mouth from a national average. The WhatsApp message already identifies DentalQuote and this exact article.
